Okwudili gains traction with more projects in Awgu

Since his election as the local government chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Pedro Okwudili has continually gained traction with the projects he has inaugurated, awarded and planned out for various localities within the local government.

Some of the projects he has seen to a successful completion and those ongoing include:

the fencing of NYSC Orientation Camp Awgu, Enugu State, 1600metres (1.6 km in length, completed); Building of Awgu local government chairman’s lodge (ongoing), Omala Bridge at Ogboli/Ohaja, Awgu Ward I (completed);

Renovation of Ogbaku Health Center, Ogbaku ward (ongoing); Installation of borehole at Onoli, Ugwuleshi autonomous community (ongoing); Onolieze Community, Awgu ward II Rural Electrification project (completed);

Installation of solar light/powering of Awgu Local Gov’t Secretariat facilities and its environs, Obodo Umuoye Erosion Control Network/Culvert, Agbogugu ward (completed); Afọr Market Hall Nenwenta, Anikenano/Ugwueme ward (completed);

Renovation of Awgu Local Government Secretariat, construction of ultra-modern public toilet/urinary at Eke Mgbowo Daily Market, Mgbowo ward (ongoing);

Construction of bridge at Amankwo/Agbani/Odume/Akpuoka Road, Ogugu/Ugbo/Owelli/Amoli ward (ongoing);

Construction of culvert at Ọhaja, Awgu Ward I (completed);

Construction of Culvert at Umuogba, Ihe, Ihe Ward; Construction of bus-stop at Madu-Akọ junction, Obeagu, Obeagu ward (completed);

Construction of culvert at Ugwu Village Road, Ezioka, Isuawa – Ituku/Isuawa/Agbudu ward (completed);

Culvert at Umuhu, Ugwuleshi Awgu, Awgu Ward II (completed);

Oil palm plantation project, Awgu local government farm/rehabilitation of agricultural machines/health vehicles;

Aawgu-Akịnụkwa Road maintenance/grading, Awono Owelli Health Center (roofing and finishing completion);

Roofing of Anikenano Development Center, procurement and distribution of core relief items (CRIs) to the LGA’s most vulnerable, in order to cushion the effects of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-10 pandemic;

Sensitization/awareness campaigns/distribution of health materials in all over 34 communities in the local government, empowerment of the physically challenged persons in Awgu through JONAPWD, amongst others.

 Okwudili told LEADERSHIP Scorecard that the compassion to work and the desire to serve the have remained his drive since his election over 5 months ago.

“We have seen the people struggle and suffer without social amenities and infrastructure for a long time. Where is my pride if, following my election, I fail to do the things which I have seen have not been done? I am accountable to the people and I trust and hope that before my tenure is up, more will be done and we can move Awgu forward – if for nothing else, infrastructure-wise.”

He thanked the governor of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his support, the opportunity to serve the state with him and for making it possible for the executive in the state to work with leadership at the grassroots.
