Enugu Governor Peter Mbah to Be Honored by World Corporation Industries Forum in Istanbul, Turkey and World Business Summit in Sofia, Bulgaria, in October 2026

ENUGU, NIGERIA – Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been nominated for two prestigious international honours scheduled to hold in Europe in October 2026, in recognition of what organizers described as his transformative leadership, disruptive governance model, and ambitious economic development agenda that is reshaping Enugu State into a leading investment destination in Africa.

The governor will be recognized at the 15th World Corporation Industries Forum (WCI-FORUM) in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 13 to 15, 2026, and at the World Business Summit (WBS) Global Honours 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria, from October 21 to 23, 2026.

The twin nominations were announced by the organizers of the two global business platforms in partnership with Leadership Scorecard Integrated Media Company Limited, with both institutions citing Governor Mbah’s remarkable achievements in economic transformation, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, transportation, security, and investment promotion.

WCI-FORUM Names Mbah Outstanding Governor in Africa. In a formal invitation signed by Utku Bengisu, President and Founder of WCI-FORUM, Governor Mbah was nominated for the WCI-FORUM International Gala Awards Honours 2026 as “Outstanding Governor in Africa for Excellence in Disruptive Innovation, Sub-National Economic Transformation and Human Capital Development.”

The organizers said the nomination followed a detailed review of Enugu State’s rapidly expanding economic and social development indicators under the governor’s administration.
Particular attention was drawn to the state’s N1.62 trillion 2026 Budget of Renewed Momentum, described as the largest budget in the state’s history, representing a significant increase over the previous fiscal year and designed to accelerate the government’s vision of growing Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

The forum also praised the administration’s aggressive investment in education through the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools across the state’s 260 political wards. The project, which integrates artificial intelligence-assisted learning, robotics, mechatronics laboratories, digital classrooms, and experiential learning systems, was described as one of the most innovative public education reforms on the continent of Africa.

Governor Mbah’s efforts in transportation and aviation development also featured prominently in the recognition. Organizers highlighted the launch of Enugu Air, the commissioning of modern transport terminals across key locations in the state, deployment of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, and plans to expand the state’s aviation capacity as part of a broader strategy to position Enugu as a regional transportation and logistics hub.

The letter further cited advances in healthcare, including the ongoing delivery of a 300-bed Enugu International Hospital and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, alongside investments in water infrastructure, urban renewal projects, the New Enugu Smart City initiative, and the revival of strategic industrial assets.

According to the organizers, Enugu’s impressive increase in internally generated revenue, which rose to more than N406 billion, reflects a growing investor confidence in the state’s business environment and demonstrates the effectiveness of its fiscal reforms.

Dedicated Enugu Investment Roundtable Proposed for Istanbul
Beyond the award nomination, the WCI-FORUM has invited Enugu State to participate as an Outstanding African Strategic Partner and Lead Sub-National Investment Hub during the Istanbul gathering.

The organizers proposed a special investment session titled “Enugu State Investment Roundtable: From Coal City to Global Smart City – Financing Bankable Deals in Aviation, Smart Education Technology, Healthcare, Transport, Housing and New City Development in Enugu.” The roundtable is expected to showcase investment opportunities in sectors including aviation, smart education technology, healthcare, transportation infrastructure, hospitality, housing, industrial development, water infrastructure, and digital governance.

The Istanbul event is projected to attract more than 2,500 African decision-makers and 500 Turkish industrialists and investors, creating a platform for business-to-business engagements, investment matchmaking, and international partnerships.

Focusing on Energy, Aviation, Industrialization and Technology as part of the proposed engagement with Turkish investors, Enugu State is expected to present a comprehensive investment portfolio built around five strategic pillars: energy and minerals, aviation and logistics, industrialization through the ENPOWER Free Trade Zone, agro-industrial development, and the digital economy.

The state government to secure partnerships for projects including a proposed 1,000-megawatt clean coal power initiative, aviation maintenance and cargo logistics services, manufacturing ventures, agro-processing facilities, smart school technologies, and digital skills development programs. The investment drive aligns with Governor Mbah’s broader vision of transforming Enugu into a globally competitive industrial and innovation hub while reducing dependence on federal allocations through private-sector-led growth.

World Business Summit also selects Governor Peter Mbah for Global Honours. Barely a week after the WCI-FORUM nomination, organizers of the World Business Summit 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria, announced a second international honour for the Enugu governor.

In a nomination letter jointly endorsed by the World Business Summit Secretariat with Director of Collaboration and Strategy for Nigeria, and Ambassador Dr. Wallace W. Williams, Chairman of the Summit’s Global Advisory Board, Governor Mbah was nominated for the WBS Global Honours 2026 as “An Outstanding Leader in Subnational Transformation and Investment Drive in Africa.”

The summit organizers described Enugu as Nigeria’s most compelling sub-national economic success story and praised what they termed a model of governance that demonstrates how innovation, fiscal discipline, infrastructure expansion, and strategic planning can transform a state into a globally connected economic center.

Among the achievements highlighted were the state’s dramatic increase in internally generated revenue, expansion of educational and healthcare infrastructure, launch of Enugu Air, deployment of smart transportation systems, establishment of technology-driven security architecture, and major investments in roads, water, hospitality, and urban development.

The organizers further noted the completion of landmark projects such as the Enugu International Conference Centre, the adjoining five-star ICC Hotel, and the state’s new international hospital, all of which are expected to strengthen Enugu’s positioning as a destination for global business, tourism, conferences, and investment.

Sofia Summit to Host Enugu Global Investment Business Roundtable as part of the World Business Summit programme. The organizers have proposed a dedicated Enugu State Global Investment Business Roundtable designed to connect the state’s economic team with European investors, development finance institutions, multinational corporations, and diaspora business leaders.

The session will focus on attracting investments into aviation, agro-industrialization, healthcare, solid minerals development, smart infrastructure, renewable technology, and the state’s emerging industrial economy. The summit’s Global Honours ceremony will bring together government leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, and corporate executives from multiple continents to celebrate excellence in leadership, sustainability, economic development, and business innovation.

International Recognition of Enugu’s Transformation Agenda: The dual nominations mark a significant international endorsement of Governor Mbah’s ongoing transformation agenda and underscore the growing global attention being directed toward Enugu State’s development model. If conferred, the awards will place the governor among a select group of international leaders recognized for driving economic growth, human capital development, investment promotion, and innovative governance.

For Enugu State, the recognition also presents an opportunity to deepen international partnerships, attract foreign direct investment, and showcase its ambitious vision of evolving from Nigeria’s historic Coal City into a globally competitive center for industry, aviation, technology, and sustainable economic growth.

With back-to-back engagements in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 13 to 15, 2026, and Sofia, Bulgaria, from October 21 to 23, 2026, global attention will be focused on Enugu State as it seeks to leverage international recognition into new investment opportunities and strategic partnerships for long-term development.
