Enugu Air aircraft didn’t crash land in Benin Airport: It Was a Runway Excursion, not necessarily Crash Landing

This is simply a Runway Excursion, not necessarily Crash Landing even though it appears that the right engine is impacted.

A crash landing would not have that aircraft in one piece and still standing on all gears.

So in this case, pending official confirmation, and clarifications, I suspect this is a Landing Overrun due to flooded runway or slippery runway judging from where the equipment was helped to a standstill presumably by muddy grasses.

May be human error or external factors, especially with heavy rains and highly slippery surface may affect the aircraft missing its landing area.

Also, a sudden tailwind can push the aircraft and force an increase in speed such that braking may not be as effective in stopping the plane.

No doubt, this must have been a scary experience for the crew and passengers on board.

Politics aside, Enugu Air remains one of the best Nigerian Airlines at the moment.
