Former Rivers State Governor and ADC Vice Presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, declared, “I am Igbo,” while addressing thousands of participants at the 2026 Abuja Igbo Fest, held on Sunday, 19th July 2026, at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.
Speaking to a predominantly youthful audience made up largely of Ndigbo from the Igbo-speaking states, Amaechi revealed that he had recently lost his mother and, under normal circumstances, would not have attended any public event. However, he said he chose to honour the invitation because he had given his word to the organisers.
He urged Ndigbo to take the forthcoming elections seriously by participating actively and voting wisely, emphasizing the importance of making informed choices at the polls.
