2023: Isi Uzo is your own, Amb. Ebenyi to Mbah, Enugu PDP guber candidate

A former Nigerian ambassador to Spain and the Vatican City and former two-term House of Representatives member for Isi Uzo/Enugu East Federal Constituency, Ambassador Kingsley Ebenyi, has declared that the only governorship candidate known to the entire people of Isi Uzo Local Government Area ahead of the 2023 elections is the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship flagbearer, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Amb. Ebenyi who made this known at Ikem, the administrative headquarters of Isi Uzo Local Government Area of the State during a thank you visit by Mbah and his entourage, Tuesday, noted that Isi Uzo people had a long history with the PDP since 1998 when the party was founded.

The Isi Uzo elder statesman further declared that the people of the council area had never voted for other political parties other than the PDP, reaffirming their commitment to repeat the victory they had been giving the party.

“Isi Uzo is your own,” Ebenyi declared.

“We have never voted for other political parties except the PDP. We are with you and in 2023 we shall do the needful by giving you our support,” he said.

Also speaking, a former chairman of the council area, Prof. Sam Ugwu dismissed the news making the rounds on social media about Isi Uzo’s affiliation with other political parties as fake and the handiworks of social media hirelings.

The professor of political science at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology stated that the history of the local government area would not be complete without recognizing the positive impacts of the PDP on the area.

“If you know the history of the local government area, you will know we are always PDP,” he added.

On his part, a Special Assistant to the state governor and stakeholder in the council area, Barr. Jideofor Ebe, while stressing that they were Eha people, assured of their preparedness to capture all the votes in all the 11 wards that make up the Isi Uzo council area.

“We are Eha people. We are the people of Isi Uzo; we have done it before, and we will do it again,” he boasted.

Assuring of their human capital resources and financial strength to prosecute next year’s elections in the council area, Ebe said the people had the wherewithal to deliver on the collective mandate.

Ebe, while highlighting the categories of politicians in the area said some were with them before but left for flimsy excuses, maintaining they would soon retrace their steps back to the party. He described others as perennial opposition who are of no threat to the PDP.

Lending his voice, a former council chairman of the area, Hon. Osita Ogene explained that Mbah had been in the game before, and as an experienced technocrat, understood the dynamics of politics and how to go about achieving his goals.

Ogene further said the combination of both Mbah and his running mate, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai should be regarded as a strategic force and blessing for the State, stressing that PDP had always been the only religion in Isi Uzo.
