Just last Sunday, the 12th of June 2023, as the ardent and unrepentant supporters of Chief Capt Evarest Nnaji ( Odengene) gathered on the instance of the their boss. We saw what could best be described as the exemplification of leadership, devoid of vaunts as it was displayed in it’s best disposition by Chief Evarest Nnaji.
Recall that chief Captain Evarest Nnaji (Odengene) was among the front line contenders for the PDP governorship ticket, 2023 Enugu governorship race.
As the teeming supporters gathered in his GRA residence, Enugu. Merriments was as you choose and so, discussions were going on in groups as friends chose friends as they could contain. One thing quite common in their conversation was how utterly disappointed they were after hearing that the decision of who succeeded in becoming the eventual candidate was not in their favour,and how Enugu state was like a street (country) that is experiencing war. Moody, sombre and basking in hushed expressions!
Not quite long, chief picked up the mic and began to cheer the crowd up, saying, we must be strengthened by the fact that we put up a good fight that was devoid of any spots, wrinkle or even stepping on the toes of anyone. Truly, his team was perfectly attested to for this observation.
May we not forget that there was great pressures from different quarters, most especially from people of note that saw his loss as crass disappointment, to ingress into another popular political party like the labour party or any other one for that matter. Assuring that he will give a good fight.
As the pressures continued, the gentle man maintained his usual grasp and remained resolute to his chills until yesterday when he called all on board.
He told how his brother, the now governorship candidate of the PDP met with him in his house and asked him in a gentle man agreement that whoever that wins among them should support the other, and they all agreed to that.
As the pressure of going to realise his ambition in other platform was going on, he stoutly agreed within himself that he will maintain that very agreement.
Just as he was addressing us, he said that it won’t be good that we scatter the roof just because we are angry, that PDP is one family and should remain so, he told us that somebody would be coming in a few minutes to address us.
A little time indeed, we saw the PDP candidate driving in and as he came in, he greeted us cheerfully.
When he picked up the mic, he said, in his words;“I am filled with emotions and short of words for the crowd I see here today, I am profoundly grateful to my brother and you all.
He said one thing he would assure us is that the game is going to be a zero loss game as our boss said earlier. He said that our boss has just demonstrated his capacity as a complete gentle man and that he will maintain his own part of the agreement.
The inference we all got in the matter is a matter of acute disposition of gentleman and leadership typification, I also saw such qualities in the governorship candidate as he promised to yoke the Odengene team to his team and said we are one family that there shall not be any difference between us at all.
Peter Mba will make a good governor if a gesture like this can be maintained.
Odengene Peoples Movement hereby on the instance of our dear principal, have collapsed into the campaign team of Chief Hon Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba for the greater glory of our great party, the PDP and that of our dear Enugu State.
