Consistency and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in an Administration are prerequisites not just only in the policy making but vital for effective and efficient leadership.
On most issues, Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration has moved beyond a set of attitudes to specific thought-out positions and glorious heights.
His Administration’s global view is clear, with well defined concepts. Even his local, regional objectives and policies have continued to receive enormous international attention with commensurate encomiums from notable voices.
From the prisms of True Believers of the Enugu Governor, they never doubted whether the system that has been set up can work. It have actually performed very high so far, even in the front of nationwide phenomenal encumbrances from the onset way back since 2015 till this date.
Moreover, most of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s enthusiasts are quite unaware that for most of his career, before venturing into full-time political Leadership, the Governor has been a creator and tireless executor of policies.
Always working round the clock and equally delegating responsibilities when and wherever necessary.
Right now in the active service for dear state and country, Ugwuanyi has methodologically partnered positively with the unavoidable stakeholders namely; the technocrats, Labour Union, the Traditional/Religious Institutions, the Diplomatic Institions, Security agencies, the Media, the Grass-roots, and the rural dwellers in demonstration of his nationalist convictions, in terms of effective communication and feedback on the roadmap towards the new found Economic glory, with endless streaks of value creation in the art of governance, creating timeless models as he blazes the trail.
The echoes of Ugwuanyi’s investments in the security architecture of the state has continued to attract plaudits for the industrial sector of the state economy with the consequent boost in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) of global standings.
There’s also the Youth O’clock mantra, unveiled by Governor Ugwuanyi Administration. Anchored on the Enugu Youth Mandate, with blue prints of wonderful potentials of historic outcomes.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, as a tactical team player, he has positioned the Enugu State Youth strategically through engagement and thus raised youthful stakeholders who are prepared for leadership, equipping them with the requisite competencies and character contents to take over.
These are Youth Development initiatives, empowerment, employment generation, and quality participation in governance, etc.
Obviously inspired by the National Economic Empowerment And Development Strategy (NEEDS) document. The Governor Ugwuanyi’s Administration has vigorously embarked on a policy of “Value Reorientation” in redirecting the Enugu State teeming Youths towards self-developments, skills acquisition, leadership capacities for financial freedom and exposing them to the new wealth of the world massively embedded in new technologies. Such as ICT, Social entrepreneurship, Agribusinesses, Engineering, Alternative energy, etc.
To further boost the aggregate demand of the local economy, Ugwuanyi’s administration has made it a duty to regularly pay the state workers 13th Month Salary. A welfare policy incentive introduced by the Governor himself as a bonus to the workers since the year 2015, except for 2020 covid-19 pandemic Year.
It is while Gov. Ugwuanyi mounted the leadership saddle in Enugu State, that the local economy without oil, became the 9th best performing state in terms of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Nigeria.
The State’s IGR slightly over N31 billion was adjudged good enough to beat all oil producing states except Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom.
The above rating came in the month of May 2020 from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), from States ranking on Internally Generated Revenue.
Enugu State Under Governor Ugwuanyi was also listed by BudgIT alongside Lagos and Rivers States as the only three states out of the 36 States in Nigeria which have fulfilled it’s Obligations to their workers despite witnessing the worst recession in history.
Furthermore, Enugu State was listed amongst the seven (7) states that are Solvent with impressive over (30%) percent Internally Generated Revenue to fund additional Economic projects, as captured by the Prestigious Economic Confidential (EC)
The National Competitive Council of Nigeria equally listed the Enugu State Economy under Gov. Ugwuanyi, the fifth most Competitive State in Nigeria and the third most debt Sustainable State in the entire country.
Enugu State still holds the record of being the First State in Nigeria to have published it’s Audited State’s final accounts for Three consecutive years. First in the Southeast geo-political zone, and Ninth in the Country based on IGR as against Federal Allocation.
These are quite remarkable accomplishments because when Gov. Ugwuanyi took his oath of office way back in May 29th 2015, the entire country was in acute Economic recession, with drastic reduction in crude oil prices in the global market.
Albeit the economic challenges, Ugwuanyi’s Administration did massive verifiable Capital Projects both in the Urban and Rural areas. With road networks covering over 3000 kilometers of intra and inter-state roads— thus creating an unbeatable record in the Enugu State history since its creation.
There’s also a recorded tremendous exploits in the maintenance of infrastructures built by previous administrations, especially the failed portions of Urban roads, traffic and as well as Street lights mostly cannibalized by vandals.
To boost and sustain the economic and nightlife activities in the main Urban centres of Enugu, Ugwuanyi’s administration procured an uncountable numbers of the 60KVA power generating sets, many of which are installed to replace old and aging ones in the Enugu metropolis and at the same time installing new ones in the University Town of Nsukka.
In furthering the capacity of the state economy, Gov. Ugwuanyi led Administration awarded additional multiple contracts for Road projects worth over N4.6 billion naira in the continuation of it’s massive infrastructural rehabilitation campaigns across the length and breadth of Enugu State.
Ugwuanyi’s Administration equally broke the hong history of industrial unrest, intimidation and neglect that characterized previous minimum wage implementations in the State, by peacefully implementing the new N30,000 minimum wage, along with the consequential adjustments.
This is in addition to regular payment of workers salary and other sundry allowances, not minding the high level of huge wage bill brought about by the new minimum wage.
Also, the first ever Tourist park of Global Status was built by the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s Administration. The Enugu Unity Park, formally a Forest Reserve near the Michael Okpara Square Independence layout Enugu.
The Governor has made a great choice to restore the serenity and ecosystem balance as well as conserve the biodiversity of the Metropolis core environment.
Decorated with a massive Sculptural edifice of a roaring lion, encircled by green nature amid eucalyptus trees in the heart of the Coal City, which have come to bring Enugu State Tourism to limelight, promote family get together and friendliness and additional sources of Internally Generated Revenue as a good place to unwind.
