In a press release made available to Leadership SCORECARD by Comrade Ilogebe Chidi, the Vice President National Affairs of NANS has called for serious investigations into the killings and Kidnapping in Enugu State.
“Enugu State has been adjudged the most peaceful state in Nigeria after the FCT and this was confirmed by the NPF” and all of a sudden everything just changed.
To us, somethings are not just adding up.
_Could it be that there is a political undertone to these killings and kidnappings in the state with the example of Frank Anioma’s daughter?_
*_Could it be that the current CP does not have contemporary policing strategies?_
_Could it be like some quarters are saying, that the IPOB has a hand in this? Probably because they want to destabilize the South-East and the fastest way to do that is by destabilizing the capital of the SouthEast -Enugu State._
_Is it not the same governor that has been our CSO from 2015 till few months ago (a very peaceful period)?_
We believe that these questions need urgent answers.
Our suggestions are quite simple:
Firstly; we need an overhaul of the Enugu police System, all DPO’s should be change/replaced with serious and proactive ones and all the police personnel in the state to be up and doing.
Secondly, we are beckoning on the IG of Police to add more personnel to our peaceful state because some local government area has a meagre number of policemen. For instance, Udi LGA has only 31 policemen, and same goes for many other LGA’s .
Also we are pleading with those that have underlying political interests not to put our dear state in jeopardy, as no political interest/ ambition is worth more than the lives of ndi Enugu.
Finally, we are calling on the commissioner of police Enugu State CP Balarabe suleiman as a matter of urgency to sit up. Facts abound about how his DPO’s are complacent in terms of securing lives and property and are only interested in extorting the public. This has to stop so that the police can buy back the confidence of ndi Enugu.
