The community of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State will on the 9th to 10th of January play host to an overwhelming crème de la crème that will join the Edeh’s family to celebrate the life of a quintessential Nkanu matriarch, late Mrs Elizabeth Chinwe Edeh (Mama FACO), the illustrious Mother-of-Pearl.
The Obuno Akpugo community is saddened by the passing of Mrs. Elizabeth Edeh at 75.
The entire Obuno Community in Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State will never forget in a haste the legacy of late MRS ELIZABETH CHINWE EDEH.
All over, tributes are pouring in from family, friends and well-wishers attesting to the centrality and the indisputable life of motherhood as typified by the late Mrs Elizabeth Chinwe Edeh who nurtured and brought up her children to fruitful adulthood.
Of course in parenthood, mothers are usually considered as the ones that make the most impact in the upbringing of children. The role that mothers play in the life of any child sticks out like a thumb from conception to gestation, delivery and nurturing. That is why the Edeh’s family in Obuno Akpugo Nkanu chose to celebrate the life of their matriarch instead of mourning her passage to eternity.
The Quintessential Matriarch, late Mrs Elizabeth Chinwe Edeh not only poured her loving kindness on her children, she strived hard to ensure that all her children received quality up bringing. The children and relatives did not spare anything in celebrating their matriarch and attesting to her magnanimity as wife, mother, mentor, guardian and life changer.
The son of the matriarch, High Chief Friday Emeka Edeh (FACO) was effusive in his tribute. He recounted the sterling qualities of his mother which transcended her nuclei family.
High Chief Emeka Edeh, who is the Managing Director/Chief Executrive Officer of Fricono International and Chairman, Castle Majestic Hotel Enugu, described his mother as an icon, a uncommon role model who lived a selfless and sacrificial life time, adding that she believes so much in human capital development, never opposed her husband to give good orientation and empowerment for other relatives and less-privileged.
Chief Friday Emeka Edeh pointed out that his late mother manifested the real life of a Christian in her dealings with others and served God and man with faith and cheerful heart.
Excerpts from his emotional tribute, reads: “You were the most amazing, dedicated, devoted, and selfless Mum and such a loving, kind, and fabulous grandmother to my children. What a blessing you were to your family. I will miss you Mama. I will miss your bright spirit and amazing light. Thank you for always praying for us and lifting us up and encouraging us along the way. Rest in peace beautiful angel.”
Meanwhile thousands of tribute continued to pour in for a woman and a mother who held together homes, raised children and struggled valiantly for happiness of others.
While the world notes the passing of an icon, Akpugo community shares grief in tributes, memories and condolences sent to the Edeh’s family members.
It’s a known fact that the sociology of death is one of fundamental aspect of the Igbo traditional cosmology, that parents pray that their children should outlive them in order to give them a befitting burial. They liken this to the same manner when fire dies out in the hearth, it is replaced by ashes, and when a banana tree withers, a sapling sprouts in its place.
To High Chief Friday Emeka Edeh, it’s painful that you’ve lost someone who you and your family loved so much. Very sure you made your mother so proud; of course her light is gone from your life. You’ve experienced such a huge loss in saying goodbye to your beloved mother.
Your friends and wellwishers have extended to you deep and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother. We hope you find some comfort in knowing that she was a great mother to all around her throughout her life time, and she will never be forgotten. You have received enough thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during this dark time in your life.
Even before our birth, from inside the womb, till the last breath, the one person who always loves and cares for us is our mother. But, like all mortal beings on this planet earth, our mothers also pass away, one time or the other. This loss is very painful. It’s even more difficult to find some comforting words from your friends or close relatives.
Dealing with this great pain of grieving is not easy, we pray to the Lord to give you strength in this hard time of yours.
Late Mrs Elizabeth Chinwe Edeh’s legacy lives on.
May God let your mother rest among the angels.
