At least four members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee on the 29th of September, 2022, returned over a hundred million Naira which was wrongly paid into their respective bank accounts by the party’s leadership.
Several Nigerians have slammed the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party for organizing such a high-profile corruption, which they have severally accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of and have promised to end if they regain power in 2023.
While speaking on Channels Television’s Politics on Friday, 30th of September, 2022, the Senator representing Rivers South East, Senator Olaka Nwogu expressed his disappointment with the PDP’s national chairman and former Senate President, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, for permitting corruption.
Senator Olaka Nwogu recalled when Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State raised an alarm that Senator Iyorchia Ayu was planning to divert 14 billion Naira from the PDP’s treasury.
Senator Olaka Nwogu further revealed that in an attempt to unite and silence the PDP’s National Working Committee, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and other PDP leaders paid money into bank accounts of all members of the National Working Committee
The Rivers South East Senator urged Senator Iyorchia Ayu and those involved in the corrupt act to resign, after they must have publicly apologized to the PDP and entire Nigeria.
