Many keen observers of unfolding political developments may be flabbergasted on why the PDP and supporters of its presidential candidate suddenly became so bitter with Peter Obi and his candidacy. This is the same man, Peter Obi, the likes of Ben Bruce, Reno Omokri, Deji Adeyanju, etc., sang his praises to high heavens as the best thing to happen to Nigeria until Obi left the PDP to go pursue his political aspiration elsewhere.
While we, Obidients, persuaded the PDP to give Peter Obi its ticket, the PDP sympathetizers derided us as unserious online urchins pervading cyberspace. Obidients went ahead to do show of force called One Million March. It was dismissed as a jamboree. Ironically they mocked Obi and his supporters and asked him to leave the PDP and go test his popularity in another party. Obi beckoned to their “advice” and took his political destiny and that of millions of his supporters into his hands.
When Peter Obi joined Labour Party it became a game changer. Yet PDP did not see the tsunami coming until recently when reality finally dawn on them. Having discovered that the so-called the PDP strongholds have been taken over by Obidient Movement—and still spreading like a wildlife, the party and supporters of its presidential candidate suddenly developed unprecedented level of animosity, hatred and bile for Peter Obi and have unleashed vile propaganda and outright falsehoods against his personality.
The harder they attack Obi; the stronger his popularity grows. Unfortunately for them, the horse has bolted. It is too late in the day. Peter Obi’s rising popularity has suddenly made Labour Party the leading opposition party in the forthcoming presidential election. Hitherto PDP strongholds gone, Atiku Abubakar has become a priest without a perish, a rolling stone that gathers no moss. There is no geo-political zone in the country today that the PDP candidate can confidently referred to as his stronghold again going into this election.
When Southeast made case for the PDP to zone its presidential ticket to the region, pro-PDP analysts said that no one from Southeast had the popularity and national acceptability to win presidential election. The party went further to deny Nyesom Wike—strong piller of the PDP, of Southsouth its ticket and took it to north. They argued that only a northerner could win election for the party.
The thought-provoking questions now are: why is the PDP obsessed with the same Obi it didn’t see the need to be made its presidential candidate? What are they’re afraid of? They opined that a vote for Obi is a vote for Tinubu because, in their parochial minds, Obi will end up dividing PDP votes. If Southeast and Southsouth are not good enough to produce the PDP candidate, why is the same PDP still referring to the zones as its stronghold? Let Atiku go ahead and win with only northern votes.
PDP is in a deep mess because Atiku is not popular enough to deliver his northeast, let alone the entire core north. He lost his polling unit in the last election. The PDP always depended on votes from their so-called strongholds—Southeast and Southsouth. But the emergence of Peter Obi has altered that calculation and the PDP is now left in the limbo grasping for breath. The PDP sees Southsouth and Southeast as its side-chicks that are only good to be used and dumped all the time.
PDP views these zones like a brothel it visits only when it wants to have sex (votes). PDP wants to keep using these two zones to satisfy its sexual orgies. The party has no plan for these zones. We are only good for friendship and not marriage. But God has decided to punish them using emergence of Peter Obi. The coming election will be the PDP’s worst presidential electioneering outing. The party will be stripped stark naked in the village square. They have seen the handwriting on the wall. This is why they so hated Peter Obi now.
But we warned them. Peter Obi is coming. ❤️👊✌️
