Enugu – United Progressive Party (UPP), Enugu State chapter commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for grooming future leaders for the state.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu recently, the State Chairman of UPP, Ken Onyekaonwu gave kudos to Governor Ugwuanyi for walking his talk by appointing more youths into his government.
According to Onyekaonwu, notable youths so far appointed into Enugu State goverment include Ugonna Ibe, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Victor Nnam, Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Josef Onoh, the Executive Chairman of Enugu Capital Development Authority.
The UPP boss gave the names of other youth appointees as Anthony Nwodo, Chukwudubem Onyia, Arinze Chilo-Offia and Mr. Humphrey Onyima.
He said their appointment was a unique replication of the 1999 scenario where young people were appointed in large numbers into the state government.
“That is the only way to build the capacity of the youth for leadership task ahead. The youths as leaders of tomorrow if not properly groomed through appointments into government for tutelage, then the political future of the state and the nation at large, will be gloomy,” Onyekaonwu said.
He, however, charged the youths so appointed into government and those who will still be appointed to see the appointment as a litmus test for the youth constituency.
Onyekaonwu reminded them that failure in their respective responsibilities would be ascribed to the failure of the youths in general and inability to justify the confidence reposed in them by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
He urged the Governor to remain committed and resolute in implementing policies and programmes that will create employment for the teeming youths, especially those who may not be lucky to secure political appointments.
