Those who don’t want their children to Wear Hijab, should not be forced to do so” – Shehu Sani.
Former Senator Representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani has made his stance known in the Controversy of Students forced to or not to wear Hijabs as part of school Uniforms. The Controversy has gone on for a long time with so many Schools especially in the North making the Hijab part and parcel of their Uniforms for their females. It is worth noting too that lots of schools too, especially missionary schools, have banned the use of Hijabs in their schools.
Most recently, Kwara State Government closed down 10 Christian schools for Banning the use of Hijabs in their schools. On the other hand, most public schools in the Northern partners insists on the Hijab and will not admit any student who will not wear it.
The Civil Right Activist made a Statement on this development, saying that it shouldn’t be an Issue. According to Senator Sani, it should be Optional, those who want to wear it should be allowed to wear it while those who are not interested in putting on the Hijab should not be forced to do so.
This statement definitely not go down well with some interest groups who tend to have a good grip on their Stance and are not ready to defy their standards.
