The Board Chairman, Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, Dr. Emma Ezenwaji, has charged Ndi Anambra and residents of the state to make conscious effort to keep the state clean.
He revealed that Governor Chukwumma Soludo, who is making effort to ensure that Anambra becomes a livable and prosperous homeland, the governor making himself available to be part of monthly last Saturday’s sanitation exercise in Anambra State, he emphasize the attention he pays to clean and healthy environment.
Dr. Ezenwaji, who stated this when he featured on ABS phone-in programme, TONIMAS Half Hour, emphasized that ASWAMA is making frantic efforts to evacuate wastes in the state, and charged people to always dispose their wastes responsibly at collection points.
He further charged Ndi Anambra not to build on water ways to ensure free flow of water and prevent environmental devastations, even as he discouraged indiscriminate selling of items along the roads.
Dr. Ezenwaji said ASWAMA has plans to deal with environmental offenders, urging people to come out in their numbers during the monthly sanitation exercise for the last Saturday of every month to keep their surroundings clean, adding that Governor Soludo and members of the State Executive Council will lead the exercise, which starts at seven and end at ten o’clock in the morning.
He advised people not to pay sanitation fee to persons, as payment is only made into dedicated Bank accounts, either through POS, Bank Code Transfer or Bank branches.
Some callers on the programme, including Reverend Innocent Oguejiofor and Akpulue Chinwe, commended Governor Soludo for all his efforts aimed at improving aesthetics of Anambra, and reechoed the call on Ndi Anambra and residents of the state to always keep their environment clean.
