RT. HON. OKECHUKWU MAKES HISTORY IN MGBOWO – By Chioma Odobu

    The member representing Awgu, Aninri, Oji River Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu yesterday, commissioned a well-equipped ultra-modern 3-classroom block he built at the community primary school, Ngelelato Alachara Mgbowo in Awgu LGA of Enugu State, which he promised to also install overhead thank for the supply of portable water to the pupils. This epoch making gesture makes Rt. Hon. Okechukwu the man the cap fits for 2019.

    Leadership SCORECARD gathered that history will record it that Rt.Hon.Okechukwu erected a building in Mgbowo town and equipped it to enable healthy and conducive environment for impacting and deriving knowledge. This generosity and goodwill was deeply appreciated by the indigenes of Mgbowo town as they came out en mass to show their appreciation and promised to support him at the forthcoming election in 2019.

    The Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Basic Education (ESUBEB) Chief Hon. Ikeje Asogwa who was in attendance reiterated the commitment of the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s led administration in ensuring the delivery of quality education infrastructure in Enugu. He promised to provide chairs and other instructional materials for the school. He said “…ESUBEB will build more school blocks in Mgbowo town soon”.

    Other dignitaries in attendance includes; Hon. Stanley Okeke, the Council Chairman of Awgu LGA; Hon. Nelson Uduji, member representing Awgu South constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Host, Sir. Obi Kama, Chairman of Enugu State Science, Technical and Vocational Management School Board; Rev. Kevin Eze, the Chancellor of De-World University Mgbowo still under construction; Hon. Mrs. Agatha Ukah, Permanent Secretary Enugu State Government; His Royal Highness, Igwe John Azubuike Ibe (Ohabuenyi II) of Ekpu Lambo Mgbowo Autonomous Community; His Royal Highness, Prof. Akpa Ikenga Epku-Lato Mgbowo Autonomous Community; Chief Boniface Agwu, aspirant for Awgu South House of Assembly Constituency; Hon.Augustine Ukweze, Prof. Bernard Ekpete, Chairman Mgbowo Association in Enugu: Sir Ide Udenta, Parish Priest Saint Mark Catholic Church  Alachara Mgbowo, to mention but a few.

    The people of Mgbowo in their thousands thanked Rt. Hon. Okechukwu for what he had done for them in the past, by organizing free medical outreach that saved lives, employment for the Mgbowo youths and payment of WAEC fees for 52 Mgbowo students.

    In addition, Hon. Humphrey Onyima, the publisher of Leadership Scorecard magazine on behalf of Onyima Support Group (OSG) for 2019 presented an award gift to Rt. Hon. Okechukwu, appreciating his outstanding building blocks in education. Other gift items were presented to him by the people as well as awards in expression of their gratitudes. While addressing the people, he said “I have never seen something like this before”, he expressed his gratitude towards the people and assured them that he will always be available when they need him. He also commended Mgbowo youths, calling them ‘action youths’ because they act with integrity by giving their full support to him un-negotiable. He said, same cannot be said of most youths today. He encouraged them to continue in the same spirit.

    Furthermore, he promised to link with SEDI in Akwuke for the empowerment of one of the Mgbowo youths who specializes in producing liquid soap and other consumables. He assured the people of his continuous contribution towards education as it is the only thing that can be given to a person which cannot be collected back. He mentioned the earth dam project Mgbowo people complained about which has been included in the 2018 budgets as he promised but insist that Mgbowo people must rise to the occasion to prevail on the contractor to do the job as stipulated in the budget.

    He encouraged the people to always take their problems to him as their representative and promised he will try his best to solve it. He thanked everyone and groups present and gave his word to the Headmistress of the school that other things lacking in the school he will do his best to provide in order to foster good education for the pupils.
