Progressive Youth for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 Dismisses Fayose’s Claims, Urges Governor Makinde to Answer the Call for National Service

Abuja – April 19, 2025 – The Progressive Youth for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 (PYMP2027), a prominent voice within the PDP National Rebranding Forum, today issued a strong rebuke of recent statements made by former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose regarding Governor Seyi Makinde’s potential candidacy in the 2027 presidential election.

Fayose’s claims, made in a recent television interview, suggested that Governor Makinde had disavowed any presidential aspirations. PYMP2027 vehemently denies any connection to Governor Makinde or his team, stating that their advocacy for his candidacy is driven solely by their belief in his leadership capabilities and the urgent need for national renewal.

“While H.E. Fayose is entitled to his own opinion, we feel compelled to set the record straight. The Progressive Youth’s For Makinde’s Presidency 2027 has never claimed any direct or indirect relationship with H.E. Governor Seyi Makinde,” said Prince Christopher Odianarewo, National Secretary/Head Media Team of the PDP National Rebranding Forum and National Convener of PYMP2027. “Furthermore, we have never discussed our mission or activities, directly or by proxy, with anyone affiliated with Governor Makinde concerning the 2027 Presidency.”

The organization emphasized its deep concern over the deteriorating state of Nigeria under the current APC-led federal government, citing the plummeting Naira, escalating insecurity, skyrocketing housing costs, and a failing educational system.

“Our beloved country is decaying,” Odianarewo stated. “Therefore, we have taken the initiative to identify individuals we believe can lead Nigeria out of this crisis. Our thorough research has led us to H.E. Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, and we are convinced he is the leader we need.”

PYMP2027 highlighted Governor Makinde’s transformative leadership in Oyo State, including achievements in healthcare, education, security, housing, agriculture, and economic stability. They believe these accomplishments demonstrate his ability to address Nigeria’s complex challenges on a national scale.

“Therefore, we urge Nigerians to disregard former Ekiti governor H.E Ayo Fayose’s assertion on Makinde’s Presidency as childish talk. We decry Nigerians worsen woes on President Tinubu’s incapacity to lead Nigeria,” Odianarewo continued. “The call for Governor Makinde to contest the 2027 presidential election is not mere political posturing. It is a clarion call to service, transcending party lines, ethnicity, and religion. It is a call to save our nation from total collapse and to save Nigeria.”

PYMP2027 firmly rejected Fayose’s insinuation that they are “overzealous,” asserting their commitment to the PDP’s revitalization and denying any involvement in activities aimed at destabilizing the party.
