Northern Nigeria,– July 30, 2024 – The Director General of the Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN), Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, along with 35 affiliate organizations across the 19 Northern States, including Abuja State, have announced their decision to withdraw support from the proposed nationwide protest. This decision comes after careful consideration of the potential for violence and instability that such actions might incite.
In a statement issued today, Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu emphasized the organization’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He expressed concerns that the protest, while rooted in legitimate grievances, could escalate into violence, thereby endangering lives and properties.
“Our priority has always been to ensure the safety and well-being of our members and the general public,” said Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu. “After thorough consultations with our affiliate organizations, we have collectively decided that participating in this protest could jeopardize the peace and stability of our communities. Therefore, we urge all our members and other affiliated organizations to remain indoors and avoid any form of participation in the planned protest.”
The Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN) remains dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of the people through peaceful and constructive means. The organization will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to address the underlying issues that have led to the call for protests, ensuring that solutions are sought within the framework of law and order.
