Prof. Reuben Okechukwu Bags Leadership Scorecard’s “National Development Icon Award”

Prof. Okey Reuben Okechukwu, Fcai, PHF, Born in Abonyi – Okpoto, Oke Reuben Edede Okechukwu hails from Okpoto in Ishielu L.G.A of Ebonyi State. He attended Boys Secondary School Ezzamgbo and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He holds M.Ed and Ph.D from University of Nigeria.

Prof. Okey Okechukwu as he’s fondly called is a scholar, humanist, chartered administrator, devout Catholic, Community Leader and philanthropist per excellence. He has touched many lives in his generous nature.

Prof. Okechukwu holds over 100 Awards and Honours namely: NYSC Honours Award, Award of Excellence in Effective Tertiary Education Administration by University of Nigeria Nsukka, Fellow Chartered Institute of Administration, Paul Harris Fellow, Platinum award for corporate leadership, HIGH CHIEF, IKE OKPOTO OF OKPOTO Ancient kingdom, Ozo Igbo Ndu, shield of the masses, pillar of the church, Award of excellence by CWON, the only man member of the National Council of Catholic Women Organization Nigeria (CWON), Ambassador of Catholic Television of Nigeria, among others.

Prof. Okey Reuben Okechukwu at the home front is a peace maker. He has resolved many nagging and seemingly irreconcilable differences among high worth individuals and returned peace to the land even at very trying moments be it politics, religion or supremacy tussle in Okpoto land and beyond. He is adjudged a kind hearted, honest and lover of God.

Prof. Okechukwu have held many public and corporate leadership positions such as Chairman, Committee of return of schools to the missionaries, Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), SA to the Governor on Education, SA to the National Assembly on Insurance and Allied Matters, Provost Federal College of Education Technical in Ebonyi State, etc.

Prof. is always ready and available to serve and work for God and humanity.

Prof Okechukwu, the Provost of the Federal College of Education Technical in Ebonyi State has consistently advocated for peace and sustainable democracy in the nation’s leadership.

“We need to deliberately provoke systems and models that will advanced the course of Peace and Democracy experimentation and embrace a new generational leadership evolution with the essential attributes of responsive, responsible, and proactive leadership to confront the several challenges that we presently faced as a nation,” he said.

Humphrey Onyima, the Publisher of Leadership SCORECARD Magazine and his team presented the Leadership Scorecard’s “National Development Icon Award” to Prof. Okey Reuben Okechukwu, an award that was originally meant to be presented at the recently concluded Leadership Scorecard Public Lecture held in honour of His Excellency, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar GCFR.

Onyima described Prof. Okechukwu as a “national icon, a colossus of knowledge and leadership capacity, whose contributions to the sustenance of Peace and Democracy, as well as human capital development in Nigeria, can never be overemphasised.”
