ONYIMA AND HIS GROUP OF SUPPORTERS DECAMPED TO PDP IN ENUGU AHEAD OF 2019 (full text of Onyima’s speech)
There comes a time in a man’s life when collective interest becomes superior to personal interest. The personal interest has to give way to collective will of the people without any form of needless resistance.
I joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek a political interest through which I can add value to the live of my people, the good people of Mgbowo ward, Ekpu-Lambo and Ekpu-Lato autonomous communities in Awgu LGA of Enugu State.
But today I have come to realize that Enugu State APC is a sold public liability company to an emperor, where even the shares are not sold as practice by 21st century capitalist establishment.
The decision to decamp from the APC to PDP with my teaming supporters are as follows:
- The Enugu State APC is ruled by an emperor not a democrat, an emperor dictates everything within the party and always boasts to do with or without majority of the people.
- The public declaration by a single individual to finance the entire party congresses in Enugu State is a clear pointer that the result of the entire process would be a reflection of the whims and caprices of the emperor. Such boastful declaration negates the collective ownership of a political party and thereby rubbishes other individual contributors.
- I waited to hear from the party leadership rejecting such undemocratic affront on the party, but till today and may be forever no one has rejected it. This is evidence to show that APC of Enugu State is by extension an empire of an emperor, a sole proprietorship of an individual.
In view of the aforementioned, I wish to publicly declare with my teaming supporters to join the PDP in Enugu State based on the followings: 
- Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State is a true democrat not an emperor.
- Sometime in October 2017 at a press conference in Abuja, I Humphrey Onyima publicly criticized the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the senator representing my senatorial district, Enugu West, on the argument that he is marginalizing my people and has not carried my community along. The Deputy Senate President did not come after me as the manner of some are, he rather responded to my criticism by practical demonstration of love for my people.
- He has visited my community countless time since October 2017 and has made donations for church. He was part of the state government delegation that commissioned the gateway project in my community.
- Distinguished senator Ekweremadu and Hon. Toby Okechukwu has informed us of the inclusion of the Earth -Dam Project in Mgbowo in the 2018 budget which when completed will take care of agriculture, electricity and unemployment challenges.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State is a democrat not an emperor; His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a democrat not an emperor; Hon. Toby Okechukwu representing Awgu, Aninri, Oji River Federal Constituency is a democrat not an emperor. I as a democrat join the noble democrats of our great state, the Enugu State.
