As we draw closer to the election date, the struggle keeps getting tougher. Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that there might be a postponement in the date of the presidential election due to insecurities at their facilities.
Following this declaration, the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, had a closed-door meeting with INEC officials ahead of the 2023 elections and declared that nobody, no political party or its candidate, could rig the forthcoming presidential election under his watch because “once a soldier, always a soldier.”
According to him, “Once a soldier, always a soldier; it is impossible to rig this election under my watch; the history I’m about to create will be remembered forever, even after I’m gone. I will bring out my power and last strength to safeguard Nigerians and ensure fairness in this election.”
