The Chairman, Enugu State, Science, Technical, and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB) Sir. Obi Kama, is a perfect definition of a true leader whose personality goes beyond CV and profile.
On January 18, 2018, Sir. Obi Kama discloses that he would introduce the “Pay As You Work” model in payment of salaries to teachers.
In a bid to foster educational growth in Enugu State, Kama has successfully impacted positively in the lives of Teachers and Students since he became the chairman, STVSMB.
Since his appointment as the Chairman of STVSMB by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, he has played a major role in organizing workshops for principals of technical schools across the state with the aim of promoting managerial competence.
A research recently carried out by LEADERSHIP Scorecard to ascertain the level of seriousness in the Board revealed that, most of the workshops organized for principals of technical schools across the state was held at the board’s premises with the aim of restoring the dignity of the board, facilitate the acquisition of life’s skills among secondary school students which would reduce the rate of unemployment among youths who look for nonexistent white collar jobs and stem the tide of retrenchment of the employable work force necessitated by the global economic recession.
The research also revealed that, Sir. Kama constantly encourage quiz competition to test the intellectual capacity of students in various zones and to know how far teachers are impacting knowledge on their students, in an era where education is going down drastically in the country.
According Kama, “the board is putting measures in place to bring up quality students who can compete favorably with their peers across the country”. Sir. Kama who congratulated the participating schools and winners of the competition, urged the students to take their studies serious.
