MY MESSAGE OF HOPE TO NDI-AWGU LGA – By Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo

My name is Chief Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo, by the special grace of God, the PDP flag-bearer
in Awgu LG for the forthcoming Local Government elections in Enugu State. I also thank the
people of Awgu LG for finding me worthy.

My vision for Awgu LG is to drive a process of development that will be sustainable and beneficial to our people.

Given the peculiarity of our local government, I am mindful of the fact that moving Awgu LG forward demands concerted
    approach.

Even before my emergence as the PDP flag-bearer in Awgu LG, I have had the honour of
interacting with several sections of our people. In all these interactions, two key issues appear to be a major concern to our people.

There seem to an agreement that we have a leadership problem and also a followership problem.

Thus I am persuaded that we need a linkage between the leadership and followership in the Local Government. Truth is that we cannot move forward
    without a unity of purpose.

I am very grateful to our people for considering me worthy of this task. The tasks before us are enormous but I am convinced that Awgu LG has huge human capital to around our story.

My first assignment would be to convoke a Development Summit in Awgu LG comprising our
academics, businessmen and women, industrialists, political leaders, religious leaders, traditional
rulers, youth organizations etc to discuss what I call “Awgu LG Project”.

    I know that we have
highly placed men and women in diverse areas of life and we need to harness these abundant
    human resources.

We also need to drive the industrial development of Awgu LG. To the glory of God, His
Excellency has assured us of at least one industry in Awgu LG; but things like attracting banks
and such ancillary institutions can only be triggered if we begin to think home and develop our
    geo-political space.

This is the principle of “Akulueuno”. Isn’t a shame that a LG as big as Awgu
LG does not have a bank? Time has come for us to change this narrative.

Again it is important that we address the issue of insecurity. One of the greatest demands of
leadership is to ensure the security of lives and property.

We will all recall that Awgu LG was in
the news recently for all the wrong reasons bordering on security breaches.

    But I want to thank
our dear Governor for promptly responding to this challenge through the establishment of Forest Guards and strengthening the neighbourhood watches and personal visits to all the hot spots in our LG.

Since His Excellency’s proactive intervention, our LG has been at peace and we will
continue to compliment His Excellency’s giant strides in this connection to ensure that this peace
    is sustained.

That is why I cannot stop appreciating our God-fearing Governor, H.E Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi for endorsing my candidature as our people’s choice.

My assurance to our people is that our story must change for the better.

Our Governor is a very focused and result-driven
leader. He expects the incoming Council Chairmen to replicate his vision at the LG level.

We cannot afford to fail. I call on our people to come out enmasse to vote for the PDP on February
    29th, 2020.

Thank you and God bless us.
