IGWE EKPULATO MGBOWO EMERGES – By Humphrey Onyima

    On Saturday been the 2nd day of November, 2018, the long awaited election for an Igwe that will rule Ekpulato Mgbowo comprising of Imeama, Ezioha and Inyi was conducted and a winner emerged.

    The election was done at Central School within the premises of Saint John’s Parish Catholic Church Imeama Mgbowo in the early hours of the day. Nze Greg Ituma and Anthony Udeze Nnabugwu both from Inyi Mgbowo were the only candidates who were screened and was qualified to contest for the kingship throne. During an interaction with Leadership SCORECARD, Nze Greg Ituma was asked how he will feel if his opponent wins the election, he responded by saying that he will be happy for they are brothers and will rejoice with him. Mazi Anthony Udeze Nnabugwu was also asked the same question and he said “I will be very happy for him and will join to celebrate his victory, because we are one”.

    Indigenes of Ekpulato Mgbowo Autonomous Community from the three villages came out in their numbers according to family clans to choose their king and ruler, and the election was free and fair without hitch.

    A total of 543 votes were cast. Nze Greg Ituma emerged the winner with a total of 388 votes while Anthony Udeze Nnabugwu got a total of 144 votes and there were 11 invalid votes. Ituma was declared the winner and the entire Ekpulato Autonomous Community delegates that participated in the kingship election hail Ituma as the new King to reign over them as God ordained it to be.
