IGBO-EZE NORTH STANDS STILL FOR GBURUGBURU AS IYG-2019 LED BY ABAH JOE IDENYI HOSTS RALLY FOR PDP- By Ifeoma Okonkwo

    It was an exciting moment recently as Comrade Abbah Joe Idenyi led Igbo-Eze Youth Group (IYG-2019) carries PDP/Governor Ugwuanyi’s reelection campaign to Igboeze North.  The programme began with the arrival of the IYM delegation in the company of his entourage to the Campaign arena.

    The event was subsequently declared open with a brief prayer led by HRH Igwe Thomas Onuh the traditional ruler of Ette Nsukka, Igboeze North Local Government. The following dignitaries graced the occasion:

    The Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi ably represented by Prince Emeka Mamah (Ideh), the Hon. Commissioner for Environment; Royal Father of the day, HRH Igwe Thomas Onuh, the Traditional Ruler of Ette Nsukka, Igboeze North Local Government; Hon. Innocent Ugwu (Okogba), the PDP flag bearer, Enugu State House of Assembly Constituency II, Mr. Alex Ulama, PDP Chairman Igboeze North L.G. A., Hon. Uwakwe Ezeja (Enyi Duru), Hon. Ethel Ugwuanyi, Deputy Chief Whip, Enugu state House of Assembly, Hon. Luke Uroko, Vice Chairman Igboeze North L.G.A., Mrs. Benedette Eze, Women Leader, Igboeze North L.G.A and host of other PDP members and jingle composers.

    A company of Enugu State Youth leaders and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) executives were also in attendance. Comr. Ogechukwu Nnaemeka, the SA to the Governor on Youth Affairs; Comr. Chidi Ilogebe, the SA to the Governor on Students Affairs and Vice President (National) of NANS; Comr. Pascal N. Ugwu, the Chairman NYCN Enugu State chapter; Comr.Victor Ezenagu Secretary, NANS Zone B (South East and South South); Comr Ugwuegbe Darlinton Chairman, JCC, NANS, Enugu; Comr. Nick Odozor, member NANS, Comr. Izuchukwu Ezeh NYCN Ambassador, Enugu State.

    After formally recognizing the visitors, series of cultural displays were carried out in mood of the rally. Groups that performed include:

    Anyilowojotu Women Dancing Groug; Agbamgbada Egwu Ndi Ogaranya Youth; One Love Women Dancing Group; Holy Child Girls Dancing Group; Ayila agishi ma women group among others.

    A very passionate and endearing welcome address was presented by the host, Comr. Abah, Joe Idenyi. In the address, Comr. Idenyi recognized the presence of all the dignitaries. He expressed his joy that they honoured his invitation and thanked them very warmly for coming. Arguing that no sensible coach would change a winning team, the comrade urged the crowd of PDP supporters to reelect Governor Ugwuanyi and others contesting within the umbrella of the party to enable them continue the good work they are doing.

    During the rally, a total number of 200 APC youth decampees from Igboeze North ward were warmly welcomed into the PDP. In an address to the rally, a leader of the decampees, Mr. Onoja Emmanuel confessed that, they decided to join the PDP because of the falsehood and many failed promises of APC to their people. The failed promises according to him include: building of primary and secondary schools and construction of good roads. He therefore urged PDP leaders at the rally to promise the decampees that they will fulfill the aforementioned promises so that they could have something to show to their people. He further assured the PDP that none of his decamped members will vote for APC in the upcoming election.

    The PDP chairman Mr. Alex Ulama in his own address assured the decampees that the PDP is a big umbrella and would accommodate them wholeheartedly.  He promised them that they will be entitled to all the benefits enjoyed by other PDP members.

    The PDP flag bearer, House of Representatives Igboeze North/Udenu Federal constituency, Engr. Simon Atigwe in response to the plea of the repentant former APC members assured them that of the fulfillment of all their request once they were ready to work with PDP wholeheartedly. Responding to the decampees also, the Executive Chairman, Igboeze North LGA Mr. Uwakwe Ezeja promised to construct the Roads within Igboeze North immediately he is sworn-in into office. The decamped APC members were thereafter offered PDP T-shirts as a sign of they are welcomed into PDP. They finally surrendered their brooms (APC logo) which were set ablaze amidst the cheering of PDP supporters.

    The colorful event was brought to a close with a benediction by the royal father, HRH Igwe Thomas Onuh with after a vote of thanks by the host Comr. Abah Joe Idenyi.
