The vice chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), Prof. Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, has expressed his joy and gratitude to God for his success and achievements since he took over leadership as the head of the institution.
Mainoma made this known to Leadership SCORECARD recently in Keffi at the fourth edition of his annual lecture which coincided with his birthday celebration and also to wrap up his tenure in office.
The vice chancellor who has imparted over 25,000 people in terms of human capital development in his 25 years working experience, insists that he was able to reach the pinnacle of his profession as an academic and accountant as a result of diligence, hard work and the ability to work as a team with colleagues at all times.
He stated that the system of the institution has been stabilized as some efforts have been put in place to sanitize and make it work, which is evident in the fact that there has been no complains or demonstrations from either the staff or students of the institution since he began his tenure.
“We have commissioned about 16 projects which includes roads, electricity, water, hostels, a post graduate school, research institutes and several others. We have introduced over 200 post graduate programmes, over 20 undergraduate programmes, resuscitated the banned students’ union government and consistently held monthly senate meetings for 56 months”.
He urged leaders to always share their visions and ideas with staff to promote team work and also avoid the issue of perceived interference as everyone will know what part to play.
He further commended the management and staff of the institution, adding that their attitude and willingness to work has increased the feasibility of Nasarawa State University both in and outside the country.
He appreciated over 18 institutions in Nasarawa, Kogi and Enugu states respectively for imparting the society with knowledge, while adding that NSUK is in collaborative relations with institutions in Nigeria and 16 other countries to enhance her scholarship.
“The university has reached a certain level of maturity, so much that we all work as a team whereby everyone is involved. We have therefore built legacies that will be very difficult to dismantle, because the foundation is institutional and not personal, haven followed processes and procedures. Therefore as a member of the senate, I will work hand in hand with the new vice chancellor to ensure that we achieve our aim of taking this institution to heights of greatness” he said.
