Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has no plans to become a minister following his term as governor.
This is despite claims that a ministerial job is one of the prerequisites for working for the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to Daily Post, Wike on Tuesday made the explanation during the commissioning of the newly built VIP lounge at Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa.
“Only one individual from a state may be a minister; I will not be a minister,” he stated. I’m not interested on ministerial slot, Rivers State is an asset, not a liability.
“If you don’t want to win an election, that’s your problem.” I’m not the one in charge of it.
“He who wears the shoes is aware of where they pinch him.”
“So, let Rivers State continue to exploit our projects in order to advertise to our people.”
The Governor also challenged PDP leaders in the state to return home and campaign for their presidential candidate, rather than “spreading rumors” about him in Abuja.
“You want to back a candidate, but you’re not at home; you’re in Abuja.”
“Come home and advocate for the party. Stop Abuja politics from spreading rumors about the candidate.
