Niger Delta activist, Government Ekpemupolo, populary known as Tompolo had an interview with Channels television where he revealed the reason why the pipeline surveillance contract given to him by the government is very important for his people and Nigeria as a whole. Tompolo said when the surveillance begins and the pipelines are secured Nigeria would be able to make money to meet it’s needs and the Niger Delta will also be able to get it’s share from the revenue allocation. Tompolo also noted that the Niger Delta community is ready to work but the little challenge they might encounter is the security agencies because some security personnel are involved in the bunkering, he noted that it is not all the security personnel that are corrupt but a lot of key players are involved in the illegal bunkering, he then appealed to the security agencies to let their people know that enough is enough.
Tompolo said, “We are ready on our own part, if we have the cooperation from the security agencies we won’t have problem and within 3 to 4 weeks we are going to restore the production back to the way it was before. A lot of people are now running Helter Skelter because they know that there is nothing going on in this country concerning the riverine area that I don’t know. Once our people are fully engaged we will then tell the security agencies to call their people to order and once that is done then we are good to go, and if they fail to comply I think in no distance time I will ask them to bring the media because I have a comprehensive list of those who are involved in the illegal bunkering and all of them know that, by the virtue of my position you know I am not afraid of anybody”.
