Hon. Jane Eneh – Woman Leader Of The Year – By Collins Kaineme

The flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Enugu State House of Assembly, Awgu North Constituency in the forthcoming guber/state house assembly election, Hon. Mrs. Jane Chinwendu Eneh has emerge as the “Woman Leader of the Year”.

Without a doubt, the world is in dire need of women who are head and shoulders above the rest, women who are able to dare, who have the capacity to blaze the trail and complement the efforts of their male counterparts towards ensuring a better and improved society for humanity. Hon. Eneh, a seasoned administrator, astute leader and staunch politician, stands out as one of such women of courage and competence who has all it takes to make a significant difference.

The story of Eneh is one of hard work, patience, selfless service and dedication to duty. From a humble beginning as the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), a position offered to her on the basis of her dedication to duty and selflessness. Eneh rose to the position of PDP Zonal Woman Leader, Enugu West Senatorial Zone, in an apparent meteoric rise, which was later justified by her rare leadership skills and capacity which she brought to bear on her role as woman leader within a few months of taking over ascending to the office.

Eneh was able to galvanise the women of Enugu West into action and mobilise their support which the Party (PDP) leveraged on to win critical elections at the time. She did not stop at that – she also stimulated and inspired Christian Mothers’ Organisation in her community and beyond into a synergy towards improved co-operation and greater achievements.

Eneh’s leadership sagacity had a tremendous impact on the development of the church across communities in Awgu and parts of Enugu West, which rubbed off positively on the fortunes of PDP. Her leadership ingenuity has continued to distinguish her in different fora where she is continuously re-elected as leader without contention or opposition. Her ground-breaking accomplishments saw her rise through to become Commissioner I, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) and even higher to the enviable position of Acting Chairman of the Commission. While at ENSIEC, Eneh was able to advance and sustain achievements even when it demanded integrity, moral courage, vision and the ability to make tough decisions and choices. As a team player, she was able to work quite cordially with the leaders and colleagues with unalloyed loyalty to ensure quality service delivery at ENSIEC. In all these, she has not only snow-balled into a role model among women, she has equally earned the respect of the society in general and her constituency in particular. This was what encouraged her to formally resign her prestigious job to answer the call of her people to represent them at the Enugu State House of Assembly, as the flag-bearer of the PDP in the forthcoming elections.

Eneh devoted herself to sustained selfless service to humanity and wishes to use her position as a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, when elected, to continue to improve on the living conditions and welfare of her constituency, the good people of Awgu North Constituency. Hence, she has chosen the campaign slogan “JANE CARES” which represents her passion and commitment to the welfare of humanity.

Eneh is a native of Agbudu in Awgu LGA of Enugu State. She had her primary and secondary education at Zik Avenue Primary School, Uwani and Nachi Girls High School, respectively. She holds a B.Ed in Accounting Education from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu.

In view of the above and more too numerous to mention, Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh is the Leadership SCORECARD ‘Woman Leader of the Year 2018’.
