For more than 3 years, Soludo’s government didn’t care about the media. At first, he pretended to be media-friendly, with a few appearances on ABS TV, where he promised to ensure a monthly appearance on ABS TV, but failed to keep to that. After his second or third appearance on ABS, the governor ran away. He could no longer stand the people who elected him. Why? He has failed to keep his pact with the people. His excuses were becoming mockery.
From that time till some months now close to the 2025 Governorship Election. Soludo’s government ignored the media community. More than twice, the Anambra NUJ publicly lamented that the media community was ignored by the government. But all they got was more silence. Dr. Emeka Odogwu the NUJ chairman, has more than twice published reports on how Soludo’s government has ignored the media. But they got more ignored. The fact is that Soludo’s government isn’t ready to serve the people hence, it considers media reportage on the raging insecurity in Anambra state as an act of sabotage or opposition. The government simply doesn’t listen and does not care.
Fast forward to six months to the election, the governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, now suddenly has time to call on content creators to come and see the Fun City and the new Government House, and hype the projects for favourable social media ratings. To smoothen this, it was alleged that his government is willing to part with at least N250 million, as a bait to buy content creators in Anambra and beyond.
Governor Soludo who had no time to talk to anyone or the media or listen to reports and adjust in the interest of public good, is now planning to host some social media content creators to hype his government and get paid with Anambra’s money. This is someone who claims that every kobo of Ndi Anambra must be put to work. No wonder he hasn’t come out clean on the exact amount spent on the Government House or the Fun City. Speculations has it that over 100 billion was spent on the new Government House. In a state with dire need of public infrastructure. A state with zero public housing for low income earners. A state with chaotic public transport system. A struggling state like Anambra is where N100 billion can be spent on a jamboree, as alleged, in the name of a new Government House. This is beyond absurd.
But Soludo is consistently constant in towing the wrong part in Anambra by ignoring the people. This was exactly how Governor Soludo ignored all calls to restore security and order in Anambra till months to the election period, then he started the Udogachi. But for three years, he allowed over a thousand innocent souls to die in the hands of criminals. Till today, Anambra is still battling a hard recovery from the havoc caused by criminals under Soludo’s watch.
Ndi Anambra should not and must not fall for Soludo’s antics. Never.
Soludo himself had said that Anambra people have short memories and always forget. All he is doing is to show that he knows it all and believes that we don’t have enough intelligence to stand him. So, his recent turnaround is to show that we indeed have short memories. Therefore, he believes that with Udogachi shenanigans, we will forget thousands killed and his wicked silence that led to their death in the hands of criminals. He also believes that once he splashes the money on content creators, they will forget how he had ignored them in the past.
Governor Soludo as alleged, has already authorized one of his Media aides, to assemble the content creators to a meeting in Anambra on Wednesday this week.
So watch out, some of these content creators will go and collect the money and begin to sing high praises for Soludo.
But, Anambra people must resist the arrogant and Mr know it all professor and ensure that he is sent back to retirement come November 8, 2025.
