Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah interfaced with the members of Coal City Elites Forum Abuja on Saturday, where he held high level business roundtable interaction with senior public servants in Abuja of Enugu State extraction led by Amb. Dr. Benito Eze.
In an opening address, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State on Donor Relations, Dubem Onyia jr, highlighted on the numerous achievements of the Governor for the past one year in office.
The President of the Coal City Elites Forum (CCEF) in his welcome address unveiled the core objectives and fundamental achievements of the Forum, and thereafter commend the Governor on the laudable achievements of his administration in Enugu State. Dr. Benito Eze further made some requests from the Governor to allow the Coal City Elites Forum members to hold their meetings in Enugu State House Abuja and as well grant estate land allocation in Enugu for members of the forum to build their retirement homes in the Coal City.
Governor Mbah, who seeks to grow the state’s economy from $4.4bn to $30bn in four to eight years through private sector investment and strategic partnerships, in his speech shed more light on his administration’s giants strides in Enugu State and the efforts of his administration towards revamping the state’s moribund assets. Members of the Forum in attendance expressed readiness to collaborate with the Enugu State government for the mutual benefits of both parties.
At the end of the meeting, there was question and answer time where the Governor agreed to partner across various sectors with opportunities within the federal agencies.
As a way of kickstarting a fruitful relationship, Governor Mbah agrees to give approval for the establishment of Federal Senior Public Servants Estate in Enugu.
Mbah’s meeting with the forum dwelt also on the implementation of an agricultural model region, measuring about 2,000 to 5,000 hectares, and replicating the Austrian Cooperative success story in Enugu State.
“Enugu is open for business. We are the trusted partner for business in Nigeria and a stepping stone to foreign businesses looking for a foothold in Africa,” he said.
