FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH SPONSORED BY HON. TOBY OKECHUKWU – By Chioma Odobu

    Hon. Toby Okechukwu, member representing Awgu/Aninri/Orji River federal constituency in the National Assembly is at it again as he embarked on a free medical outreach programme tagged “Free medical outreach for Greater Awgu, is today flagged off at Nnewe, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State in a bid to curb the health challenges facing the state.

    The outreach starts today 29th November till 3rd December 2018 in the Cottage Hospital Nnewe. This is a rare opportunity as the indigenes of Nnewe and its neighboring communities came out in their numbers to receive free medical treatment and they were attended to properly.

    In order to achieve orderliness and decorum, stages and steps to which the people were attended to was established during the process. Patients who needed medical attention were to first of all register their names and were issued hospital cards, after that they called for their blood temperature to be checked and then an appointment to see the doctor were booked and after seeing the doctor, they were referred to the lab to carryout test or pharmacy to collect drugs depending on the situation of the patient(s) concerned.

    The medical personnel present are well-equipped with medical instruments and drugs and they carried out series of impressive and applaudable examinations on the patients with gentle attentiveness to the old and frail present. There are different units for different purposes such as pharmacy unit (two sections), laboratory, injection room, eye clinic, scan room and consulting rooms (three sections). In the course of the free medical outreach, cases beyond their immediate capability were transferred to better equipped and efficient hospitals.

    Looking at all these, it is right to say that Hon. Okechukwu’s philanthropic benevolence shows he has his people at heart, and as a selfless leader that puts the needs of his people at the fore front. He is a true leader that keeps to his promises, a hope to the people and an assurance that good leaders still exists.
