ENUGU WEST ACADEMY: POWERED BY SEN. OSITA NGWU, THE LATEST FRONTIER IN EDUCATION MODEL OF SOUTHEAST

~ By Onuorah Ndubuisi Godwin

Despite persistent unscrupulous activities of some Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB) staff in recent years against the students of South East and Lagos of Nigeria. As was first discovered and exposed by the Educare Tech Team in the year 2023, when many JAMB candidates from the South East extraction failed the examination in large numbers. Thereby raising genuine concerns from the regions stakeholders on the way forward and possibly the way out of the perceived decline and imminent failure in the overall Academic performance of students in the South East geo-political zone.

This May 2025, a suspicious technical glitch according to JAMB,as it has come to be known and surreptitiously used as cover, to be the cause for the repeated mass failure in the examination outcome for people of the South East which was promptly rejected by stakeholders across board, forcing JAMB to admit it’s errors and consequently rescheduling the examination in the affected areas

This in so many quarters have prompted reflections on not only the burden of leadership, but also on the burden of the led.

Imagine where there’s no one, I mean nobody who could speak up to challenge this dimension of Academic terrorism by JAMB.

Imagine if there’s no one like Senator Ngwu who outrightly purchased this JAMB forms for countless number of beneficiaries in Enugu West Senatorial District.

Imagine the loss that could have been counted, not calculating the stress as well.

Somebody, somewhere inside JAMB as a national university entrance examination board, who is recalcitrantly sabotaging the Academic efforts of students from the South East States of Nigeria needs to be fished out and exposed with the appropriate punishment commensurate for such persistent criminality against a region of the country, so that excellent performance in our education system can begin to thrive once again.

The sterling performances of the Students of Enugu West Academy in the rescheduled JAMB outing, powered by Senator Ngwu, coordinated across the five local government areas of Enugu West by men such as Ogbuehi Ejinaka Vianney and other aides of the Senator have thrown up a good model in our education social mobility sequence.

With many of the results soaring above 300, I make bold to comment that the initiative is highly commendable.

To engage in fantasy. What would the entire Nigeria look like, if it’s superrich men and women, citizens and elites appreciated the burdens of leadership, of blessings of being rich and it’s implications for social giving and social development?

Distinguished Senator Ngwu will be remembered in the history of Enugu West Senatorial District not only for executing loudable projects across the length and breadth of the Constituency, but also for establishing, funding, and organizing JAMB preparatory classes for his Teaming constituents across the five local government areas that make up the Senatorial Zone of Enugu West to prepare the younger generation with the requisite tutelage that gave birth to such a nice result outputs witnessed in the rescheduled JAMB.

Considering the fact that Senator Ngwu is a first timer in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, he has within this halftime of his tenure seems to have performed above average, even as there’re many regular Senators in the 10th Senate with nothing tangible on their Scorecards

Given his disposition of ever readiness, bold and audacious modus operandi in the senate floor, lacing his Senate membership with remarkable vibrancy.

It is therefore noteworthy and speaks volumes for the enduring relevance of a giving philosophy driven by Social Responsibility that the original promoters of this frontier of Education model whom, having been through the rigors of writing JAMB themselves way back as students, trying to gain admission into Universities, been through same rigors as teachers teaching extra moral classes not necessarily for pecuniary reasons, but to keep a promise of an enduring answer to the simple and single genuine concern arising from the timeless question, “Who will teach my child?”

This benevolent attitude of Sen. Osita Ngwu may well be viewed by observers on the lenses of the socially influenced and influencial logic of giving back to society. But it may as well suggest that obtaining some measure of Social Responsibility from the leadership or the superrich is not necessarily inspired by a sense of entitlement.

The eagle eyes of the Distinguished Senator scouting for human capital development, detected a reasonable gap in the Educational sequence of his constituents which required coordinated efforts to fill, latched onto the gap with dependable feedback mechanism on ground and you can imagine the outcome.

But there’s also a sense in which it’s a Social entitlement, but one that does not need to be imposed because it is properly self-imposing

Finally, Nigeria’s super rich men and women, not just only political leaders ought to learn a thing or two from this initiative of Enugu West Academy from the stable of The Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu.
