Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has doled out £100,000 (N58 million) to the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) to support postgraduate students from Africa at the University of Oxford.
The billionaire heiress made the donation through the Cuppy Africa Oxford Scholars Fund.
According to the music star, “The Cuppy Africa Oxford Scholars Fund intends to support exceptional African graduates to meet unexpected financial costs and enable them to access the necessary skills, resources and networks to maximise their impact across Africa and beyond.”
The university said the fund would foster future “champions of development in African countries and globally”.
Recall that DJ Cuppy received a master’s degree in African Studies from Oxford University in March of this year.
The 30-year-old is one of the most successful female disc jockeys in Africa.
She has an album and a dozen singles to her credit.
