Davido, Flavour, Nigga Raw, Others Campaign for Gov. Ugwuanyi’s re-election Ahead of 2019 Guber Poll – By Christopher Ogugua

    Awgu Local Government secretariat, the headquarters of Enugu West was agog Tuesday 12th February, 2019 as the two Nigerian reigning Kings of Pop, Davido and Flavour stormed the Local Government Headquarters to canvas support for Gov. Ugwuani, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu and other PDP contestants in the 2019 general elections.

    The campaign was momentarily turned into a concert as the two Kings of Pop in the country alongside, Nigga Raw, J. Money, Zorro, Gordon, Jaru etc, thrilled the overwhelmed audience who sang and danced at the promptings of the very highly skilled performers. The performers who doled out songs after songs urged the audience to re-elect Gov. Ugwuanyi, Ike Ekeweremadu and other PDP contestants in the Senatorial District for peace and infrastructural developments. Davido particularly called on Awgu Youths to vote the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to salvage the country from its present economic predicaments. He said that the youths cannot afford to waste another four years in the hands of the APC’s clueless government.

    Earlier on, tens of thousands of PDP loyalists had patiently awaited the arrival of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Sen. Ike Ekweremadu for the 2019 Enugu West campaign grand finale. The Governor and Sen. Ekweremadu who arrived the venue of the rally in the company of the Deputy Governor of Enugu State Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo; Enugu State PDP Chairman, Hon. Austin Nnamani; Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, Hon. Denis Amadi and other dignitaries received a thunderous ovation from their supporters who cheered and waving their flags and banners to the Governor and his entourage.

    In his address to the rally, Hon. Stanley Okeke, the Chairman, Awgu Local Government welcomed all the PDP members and supporters to Awgu. He thanked the Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for the good working relationship between him and the people of Awgu. Appreciating the Governor, particularly for the friendship existing between him and the illustrious son of Awgu, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu. Hon. Okeke assured him that everything has been put in place to deliver Awgu to PDP come 16th February and 2nd March, 2019 respectively.

    Standing on the already established protocol, Hon. Denis Amadi, thanked the People’s Governor for the wonderful relation between him and Sen. Ekweremadu. Hon. Amadi said that the relationship has helped to bring peace not only to Awgu but to Enugu State at large. He therefore pleaded with the Governor and Sen. Ike, to maintain such relationship noting that it has brought peace and infrastructural developments to Enugu West Senatorial District.

    Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly Members from the zone, Hon. Barr. Toby Okechukwu, Member representing Awgu, Aniri, Oji River Federal Constituency appreciated the people for coming out en mass to welcome and support their Governor on “this last day of Enugu West PDP Senatorial Campaign”. He particularly thanked the Governor for the peaceful atmosphere he provided in Enugu. Hon. Okechukwu said that such peace has given other politicians the atmosphere to be able to provide their people with infrastructures. He used the opportunity and thank Gov. Ugwuanyi for commissioning the foundation for Enugu State College of Education at “Ihe” as an example. Hon. Okechukwu underlined that such infrastructure would not have been possible without the cooperation between the Governor and the people of Awgu. He consequently enjoined the people of Enugu West to come out in their numbers on the election days to vote for the Governor, Sen. Ekweremadu and other PDP, contestants.

    The rally erupted into rapturous jubilation and effusive reciprocity of gratitude when the 30-Billion-Musician and Nigerian King of Pop, Davido led the Governor and Sen. Ekweremadu to greet their people. The rest they say is story but thankfully, it ended in praise as the rally eventually broke up after the National Anthem.
