The convener of the Nkanu East Leadership Consultative Forum and three-time member of the Federal House of Representatives in Nkanu West/East Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Anayo Edeh, has appealed to the people of Enugu state and teeming members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, not to rest on their oars after the PDP primary elections which held last month as there were still much works to be done to deliver all the candidates of the party in the state.

Hon. Anayo who made this known to newsmen shortly after a meeting with the members of the Consultative Forum in his Independence Layout home in Enugu metropolis charged that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the PDP emerge victorious in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

According to the convener of the Forum, the people of the state and the party had only successfully passed the first hurdle at the primaries which he described as internal party affairs, and would have to brace up to the challenges ahead. He further called on all party stakeholders, card carrying members and the general public who were eligible to vote to consider voting massively for the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Dr. Peter Mbah, on the strength of his pedigree and unblemished track records in both the public and private sectors.

Meanwhile, Anayo has showered encomiums on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for yielding to the cry of the people of Nkanu East local government area by ensuring equity, fairness and justice in the choice of the emergence of Dr. Mbah as the PDP governorship flagbearer and would-be successor in the state in 2023. Anayo who described the governor as a man of integrity, character and unimpeachable principles added that history would always be kind to him long after his generation.

In a press release personally signed by him and made available to the media, the former lawmaker expressed confidence that PDP would come out of the general elections victorious. He, however, admonished all interests to prioritize the election of Mbah as a collective project in furtherance of a common destiny, fraternity and brotherhood in the state.

The press release which dates 12th June, 2022 reads in parts: “I have convened this meeting to review the situation in our Land and the positive direction things have taken lately in Enugu State. Only recently, our son, Dr. Peter Mbah was elected the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the impending gubernatorial election in Enugu State. By the grace of God, he is an in-coming Governor and will be sworn in on 29th May, 2023.

“As the saying goes, “it is not over until it is over”. His emergence as the Governorship candidate of the ruling party in the state puts enormous responsibilities on our shoulders.

“As he prepares for the campaign and election, all hands must be on deck. We must see his election as our collective project to which we must give our best in all ramifications. In furtherance of our common destiny to fraternity and brotherhood, we must uphold him in prayers and join him in all his activities.

“Posterity will honour us for being the generation that fought and conquered de-marginalization of Nkanu East. In our own time and before our eyes, we are seeing the emergence of an Nkanu East son as Governor of Enugu State.

“As you all know, power is taken and not given.

“We pursued this objective and God used our Governor (Gburugburu) to effect the actualization.

“Our agenda is to review the political, social and economic developments in our Land and suggest our future roles in the election of our son.”

Anayo who also used the opportunity to appreciate all the PDP gubernatorial aspirants for pledging to work with the party to deliver Dr. Mbah recalled how the journey that was started by Nkanu East Leadership Consultative Forum over a year ago came to fruition through the election of Mbah as the generally accepted PDP flagbearer.
