IN IGBO-ETITI LGA: EVERY CHILD HAS A RIGHT TO SOUND HEALTH AND GOOD EDUCATION.

It is on this note, that the government of Igbo-Etiti local government area, in collaboration with Enugu State Primary Health Development Agency, and Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, embarked on a deworming exercise, for children in nursery and primary schools in the council area.

The exercise which kicked off at Uwelle Amakofia Primary School Ugwuaji, Ukehe, on Friday the 8th day of July 2022, had in attendance, Mrs. Ogechukwu I. Nwodo, the First Lady of the council, who was present to declare the program open, and also take part in the exercise.


Also in attendance for the flag off were the Supervisor for Education, Mr. Ogbonna Ogbaji, the Igbo-Etiti Central Education Secretary; Mr. Nwafor Johnson, the Igbo-Etiti East Education Secretary; Mr. Benedict Olenyi, the HOD for Health; Mr. Chukwuemeka Okwesi, the Health Officer; Mr. Jude Ezeudo, the Women Development Officer; Mrs. Nonye Ugwuoju, and the Chief of Staff to the council Chairman, Mr. Ogbonna Efoke, among many teachers and pupils.

The exercise scheduled to hold in phases, on its first day at Igbo-Etiti East, recorded a success of 220 dewormed pupils in Uwelle Amakofia primary school, 75 pupils in Umuofiagu primary school, 190 pupils in Amenefi primary school, 210 pupils in Amauwani primary school, 86 pupils in Orinandu Primary School, and 114 pupils in Umurisi primary school
Also dewormed at Igbo-Etiti Central were 10 pupils in Igbodo Central School Ikolo, and 17 pupils at Ejuona Primary School Ohebedim.

The exercise is supported by Ugo’s Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF), as part of Her Excellency, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi’s health intervention in the state.
