As it is with most branches of learning, history is mostly concerned with the explanation of how and why certain events and situations have come about, of both change and stability. In the case of Enugu State’s history with Gov Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi, this concern is directed to the past and present of our dear state under this leadership prodigy.
African history shares the general character of all history, so it also shares it’s purposes. This, despite the many elaborate justifications which have been advanced for the study of history. It can be summed as being that, of all other branches of knowledge in the pursuit of truth.
In this case specifically, the pursuit of truth about the past of human beings and their institutions which requires both the setting aside, so far as possible, of all prejudice and the exercise of empathy, the sensitive and imaginative effort to understand past societies and events in their own terms.
The quest now does not only require the establishment of what were the events of the past before the advent of the Rt. Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, — what happened— but also their explanandum (how and why these events came to pass) and their assessment (how important were they?).
Beyond these duties, lies the possibility of extracting from these past events some vital strategic lessons for the present and future, and therefore the means of helping humanity in the understanding and handling of it’s contemporary political leadership problems.
Obviously, it is only those who love their land can make the desired bold changes in order for things to be better for all and sundry, even in the face of difficulties. This has been what the Gov. Ugwuanyi led government is doing in Enugu State with a sincere determination to make things work.
Having come a long way in observing and appreciating the massive genuine efforts of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration towards rural transformation, the ODENGENE PEOPLES MOVEMENT believes it is time to compliment this sincere genuine efforts of our beloved State Government, hence the 5.4 kilometers Amagunze road flagged off by our loving father and Governor on Thursday August 19th. In total solidarity, loyalty as well as appreciating the Gov Ugwuanyi led administration’s good disposition towards the rural development and the countless rural road networks across the length and breadth of the rural areas in our dear state, especially in the mostly neglected places by the previous administrations.
Such vital rural places like the Opi-Nsukka dual carriage way and the adjoining communities, the Ogonogo-Eji Akpugo road, Ndi-uno Ama-echi to Agbani, Atavu bailey bridge, the inyama bridge, the Amuri roads, the isiuzo Nkalagu road networks all in Enugu East Senatorial District.
The Awgu and Oji River, Ezeagu roads etc, respectively. Most importantly, majority of the above mentioned rural area roads were done in places that have been neglected by previous administrations before Ugwuanyi’s leadership era, for over a hundred years in their political history, i.e; Akpugo Ogonogo-Eji, Ndi-agu Amuri roads, etc.
It is on record that under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) leadership, communities in the rural areas were asked to choose a project of their choice termed “one community one project”, which the State Government executed from one community to the last, in all the autonomous communities of Enugu State.
It has been the sheer determination to succeed which have spurred the Workaholic Governor of our beloved State to go ahead in the adoption of sound and timeless strategies of an inward-looking and well ordered numerous policy parameters chief among which is rural transformation, ethical reforms in the new age of politicking without bitterness, placing of his personal time on the slab as burnt offering for the peace and security which we all enjoy. The strict adherence to the local content policy of the National Economic Empowerment And Development Strategy ( NEEDS) document, etc.
Under the rural development agenda, the leadership of OPM has also detected a good sense of distributive justice and equalization of opportunities in the Enugu State society.
Just recently Cardinal Onaiyekan, Catholic Bishops visit Enugu State Government House, pray at the newly constructed Christian Chapel of Worship
Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, Archbishops and Bishops of the Catholic Church in Nigeria visited Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, at the Government House, Enugu, where they prayed at newly constructed Christian Chapel of Worship at the state’s Seat of Power.
The Cardinal, Archbishops and Bishops were in Enugu State for the Second Plenary Meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), held at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Ogui, Enugu.
It is expected that the leadership of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Methodist Church of Nigeria, will also visit the Enugu State Government House Chapel to offer prayers.
The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has safely evacuated 135 indigenes of the state who are students of University of Jos (UNIJOS) from the school to their respective homes and destinations following the recent crisis that erupted in Jos, Plateau State capital.
The governor’s proactiveness, concern over the undergraduates in UNIJOS were quite amazing and uncommon.
Ugwuanyi’s noble administration has tactically and dutifully sited the state’s new springing tertiary institutions across the three Senatorial Zones, namely; the Enugu State Polytechnic Iwolo, the Enugu State University of Education Ihe both in Enugu West. The ESUT Teaching Hospital Igbo-Eno, Enugu North and that of ESUT Agbani in Enugu East Senatorial Zone.
These Economic growth drivers are time provable rural transformation policy moves and they are the real timeless proves that Rt. Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, our beloved Executive Governor of Enugu State is a priest of the Almighty God in the temple of leadership.
