Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Confers Honorary Doctor of Political Science Degree(HONORIS CAUSA) to Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, Senate Minority Whip

Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, today Saturday, 16th November, 2024, at it’s 12th Convocation Ceremony Awarded an Honorary Doctor of Political Science Degree
(HONORIS CAUSA) to Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, Senate Minority Whip.

The occasion which was well attended witnessed the presence of many dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidi Onyia, the University Pro Chancellor, Prof Nwachuku Okeke, the Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof Aloysius-Michaels
Okolie, Bishop of Enugu Catholic Dioceses and Proprietor/Promoter of the University, Bishop Calistus Onaga, Bishop of Abuja Dioceses and Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Bishop Ignatius kaigama.

Others are the Chairman Board of Trustees, Emeritus Prof. Dr. Bartho Okolo, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Dioceses, Enugu, Dr Ernest Obodo etc.

A total of 546 students were graduated, with 26 of them coming out with first class.

The Governor of Enugu State represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidi Onyia in his address congratulated the graduands and Awardees for their accomplishments.

He commended the Catholic community for founding the institution which he says aligns with the vision of the State Government in creating a society where people can live and co – exist in a rapidly growing world economy.

He expressed gratitude to the University for contibuting in creating a generation of people who can fit into the global standards of a knowledge driving economy.

The Governor applauded the University for building a foundation of students that are academically sound and a workforce that can drive the transformational vision of Enugu State

Responding Senator, Dr. Osita Ngwu appreciated the University for finding him worthy of the Degree and promised to uphold the values and visions of the institution.

Dr. Ngwu paid glowing tributes to his Father and Mother for their roles in all his accomplishments and promised to discuss with the University authority towards starting a project with the school that will be commissioned same time next year.
