2019: CHIEF JOSHUA MBA JOINS ENUGU SENATORIAL RACE

    By Blessing Ogbonna

A former PDP National Youth Leader aspirant, Chief Joshua Mba has joined the senatorial race in Enugu East district on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), to replace Senator Gilbert Nnaji, who has been representing the zone in the red chambers of the National Assembly since 2011.

Mba who declared his intention to run for the seat recently in Enugu, pledged to offer uncommon representation and bring infrastructural development to the grassroots in his constituency.

The former youth leader aspirant, who acknowledges the high rate of youth unemployment in the senatorial zone, said he believes his deep rooted knowledge and understanding of the basic requirements in the politics of lawmaking in Nigeria will help him excel if given the opportunity.

He said, “I have gone round the entire Enugu East Senatorial Zone to find out the infrastructural needs of the people and also itemized them accordingly. There are some that are obviously the responsibilities of the local and state governments but I am already working on a template that will provide a working synergy where the three tiers of government can complement each other in favour of my people.

“This I am confident will be feasible and smoothly implemented because of the type of politics and government of inclusion in place in Enugu State under the leadership of our amiable Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi which have provided an enabling environment for the on-going developmental projects that are evenly spread across the three senatorial zones in the state.”

He added, “I understand perfectly that legislative representation requires a great deal of doggedness, dedication, sacrifice and networking. In this regard, I promise to deploy the power and influence of my relationship across the nation through the processes of law making which obviously includes sponsoring of bills and proper over sight functions. I will also pursue and lobby for federal government policies and programmes that will benefit my people and uplift Nigeria.

“May I also add that I am disturbed by the level of youth unemployment in the land. As such, I shall modify the youth friendly programmes I used when I contested for the national youth leadership of my party, PDP in such a way that it suits the needs of the youths in Enugu East Senatorial Zone,” he said.

He therefore called on the delegates of the PDP in the zone to vote for him in the September 23 primaries for fair and equitable representation.

“In line with the slogan and philosophy of our great party that ‘Power Belongs To The People,’ I shall pursue fair representation where the political space would be opened up to accommodate all shades of opinion which is what PDP needs now to reclaim its rightful position and pride of place in the hearts and minds of Nigerians and beyond.”
